Leadership Academy- Crucial Conversations Zoom Training

Thursday, September 19, October 17, and November 21

7:00 pm

Presented by Duke Taylor - Racial Equity Team Member

There are issues we purposely or unconsciously avoid, especially regarding race, political issues, or sexual identity. With social media and the news cycle, conversations can veer unexpectedly and quickly into highly emotional topics. Opinions usually dormant suddenly emerge with the potential to spark conflict. Without warning, the risk escalation grows to the point of threatening relationships. The chances of such a conversation become a possibility if a church wishes to address such issue no matter how loving its intention is.

Crucial Conversations is a set of techniques when an interaction where opinions varystakes are high & emotions run strong. They might occur anytime, anywhere, whether we expect them or not. The primary aspect of a CC is its outcome will likely have a significant impact on relationships or with results affecting you greatly. Ironically, the more crucial the conversation, the less likely we are to handle it well. In this session we will introduce how to prepare your heart by mastering your story, make it safe to state your path while exploring others, and move to action while facing tough challenges.

We have added two more dates to expand the conversation.

Join these discussions on Thursday, October 17th and Thursday, November 21st.

During these additional sessions we will go deeper into how to enter into crucial conversations like how to engage during this election cycle, how to discuss Christian Nationalism, connecting with family who don't share your beliefs during the holidays, and how to go through the Reconciling in Christ process using these tools in your congregation. You do not have to have participated in the first session to join the additional sessions, nor do you need to commit to joining both sessions.

Couldn't attend the first session? You can see the zoom and slides here.
