Bishop Hirsch invites all Metro D.C. Synod Rostered Ministers and candidates to a one-day Bishop's Convocation at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Washington, D.C.
The Bishop's Convocation is an annual gathering of leaders in our synod. We will gather in person 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, April 29.
The topic of this year's Bishop's Convocation is Hope Alone, which is also the theme of our 2026 Synod Assembly. Hope Alone was the theme of a presentation that Rev. Dr. Sivin Kit gave at a gathering of Lutheran Ethicists in Washington, D.C. this year that brought together the lived faith experience of Lutheran Churches in places that have experienced long standing oppression. Hope is what we have to offer the because of Christ and it is a part of our core Lutheran theological understanding. We will hear from Rev. Dr. Kit and have a chance to ask questions and have a theological discussion to center ourselves and our ministries. This is the beginning of our Synod's focus on Christian Faith Formation as the priority for all we do.
