Together: Partner More, Work Less, and Enjoy Ministry

The New and Renewing Mission Table (NRMT) supports congregational efforts at renewal and outreach. This year, the NRMT is rolling out Partnership Grants. These partnerships aim to encourage, equip and support the development of partnerships in the Metro D.C. Synod. The New and Renewing Mission Table encourages you to seek out ways that you can dream up partnerships with local communities of faith! Your partnership effort should be mission and ministry focused on helping foster a stronger witness to the gospel through increased participation in the life and mission of your congregation with the community. Experiment, explore, take risks, build relationships, and see what happens!

What's this all about?

There will be 2 phases to this grant process:

Phase 1 - Brainstorming What's the big idea? Is there a congregation close by that you'd like to begin a conversation with and see if there could be an idea the spirit is stirring? NRMT will be offering grants with a max of $100 for phase 1. Applications for Phase 1 will be accepted through July 31, 2023.

Phase 2 - Partnership Are you ready to put the big idea into play? Great! The NRMT will be opening up Phase 2 of the Partnership grants as soon as your Brainstorming ideas are ready to blossom into a partnership!

Tell me more about what's required

Applications to the NRMT for partnership grant financial support should include the following:

  • Submit the requested application and respond to any NRMT requests for additional information.
  • Carry out the approved brainstorming idea and use Synod grant funds for the idea that you presented.
  • Share your story. Submit stories (through written word, photos, and videos) documenting the project for use by the synod (synod may provide communication assistance). For Phase 1 brainstorming projects, stories may be submitted after the initial meet-up. For more extended partnerships that are part of Phase 2 and develop and receive additional funding, additional interim progress reports and stories will be required (specific guidelines will be provided once funding is approved).
  • Provide a final accounting of the use of grant funds. Unused funds must be returned to the Metro D.C. Synod and will be used for later ministry grants.
